A Preview of the State of the Union
As time turns its page we often introspectively delve into a self-assessment or simply have a look the instrument panel and have a reality check. Old time wisdom suggests that if history were a teacher, she would have to repeat herself if we are not learning.
The time and money spent on the 2012 election would have solved the problem for which we were electing the politicians.
We used to affect the policies of foreign countries encouraging them to chose peace and democracy, in 2012 foreign politicians were dictating to American leaders campaigning for more wars than we can afford to handle.
We were told that the bad war had been ended and that the good war is about to end whereas we are digging in our heels to establish bases. Meanwhile, neither of the two wars has ended since the efficiency of the weapons has reduced our casualties to the ration of nearly 1 to a hundred. But the casualties
The battlefields have been brought home and the wars linger as tens of thousands languish in VA hospitals where the taxpayers money is spent on the war veteran’s life that is wasted and their mindset their lives and our money is being spent and there are at least 18 attempted suicide per day by
The good and the bad war amounts to tens of thousands of war veterans languishing in VA hospitals, at least 18 attempt suicide, thousands of lives ruined resulting from emotional trauma resulting from scarred psyches due to inflecting torture, terrorizing civilians, rampant rape of our female service-persons. The cost for now and years to come: immeasurable.
We justifiably make much of the green-on-blue attacks in Afghanistan, but hush the blue-on-blue rape attacks within our own forces.
Our politicians have pledge allegiance to Norquest to protect and defend the super rich than to the Constitution of the United States of America
Our congress is held hostage by the dark forces of NRA, gun manufactures and foreign lobbyists
Our ‘people-elected’ legislatures are more interested in feathering their post-congress nests as lobbyists through the revolving door are in cahoots with the big corporations against the interests of the people who supposedly elected them.
We continue to abuse the American Constitution as we deliberately interpret the Second Amendment giving the gun ownership rights without paying attention to the fact that it has called for a regulated militia. Our 18th century mindset doesn’t realize that our regulated militia is no longer a rag tag army of the colonial settlers but is more powerful than the next 25 most powerful countries of the world combined.
Instead of the regulated militia the gun manufactures and the NRA have turned the country into a virtual war zone where citizens have with battlefield firearms turn on each other and on school children and theater goers.
Where the off and on gun control drama encourages the average Joe to buy even more guns with the gun control legislation yoyo is being played in Washington. We are told that every time gun control legislations go into effect the murder rate rises. We are not told that with every over publicized gun legislation guns sales skyrocket and the increase in gun ownership leads to the rise in murder rate.
The rest of the world is laughing at our oppression with guns and are marching onto the 21st century to take our place as the superpower while we are stuck in 18th century mindset busy murdering our children and the youth- our future generation
While school children in other nations compete for first place in silences, our 49th place school children are contemplating on the promotion of warrior mentality to warrior culture from GI Joe toys to violent video games to virtual access to weapons in every home. Our civilians are better armed than our police and we expect the latter to keep law and order.
Killing other animals is ‘sport’ in an age when all the food we eat raised and grown in any part of the world is available at the supermarket.
Nothing short of a total disarmament of the civilians would work. Concerned about the government being too powerful. The corporate government has already robbed us twice: the sub-prime rate fiasco and the bank bailout, and are now trying to get our hard-earned social security and Medicare so that the super-rich can be served well by the government they elect.
Did the gun ownership help us the broad daylight robbery? No. Have people in other countries been able to protect their rights through gun-ownership? No. All the revolutions in the pre-foreign intervention stages of the Arab Spring succeeded without guns. The ones with armed struggles and foreign military interventions are struggling.
“Guns don't kill, people do,” we are told. So the murder rate in the more populated countries like China and India should at least seven folds that of the U.S.
And our good government doesn’t even permit the critical date of gun murder so we won't know what is killing us. (Fresh Air).
This is not the State of the Union address we will hear next month, nor do we expect any branch of our government to act upon it. Short of an ‘armed’ rebellion, the only alternative for Americans to update and upgrade themselves constitutionally is a national call for a constitutional convention which could discuss and possibly amend the constitution to bring to force the following:
People and people and corporations are corporations.
Corporations as corporations cannot logy the people’s representatives, the Congress.
All lobbying shall be restricted to citizen groups any corporations infiltrating such people’s assemblies and lobbies shall be held responsible, fined financially, and imprisoned individually if found guilty.
No individual serving in the U.S. Congress, as an elected or employed capacity shall allowed seeking employment with military contractors.
Imagine waking up in an America where there are no guns.
Where public officials are elected through publically financed elections
Where legislators are preoccupied with their constituents through an Internet open forum in a two-way C-Span instead of being wined and dine by lobbyist in seaside resorts.
Where our elections are no more than a month long where there is no Electoral College, where there is no winner-take all, where there is no two-party monopoly, where voting takes place one one’s computer with a Skype-like visual identification and highly secured password.
These dreams are realizable now if we only wake up from snoring through the 18th century one in which we had dosed off. If we love American enough to keep it as a republic and not an empire and if we can organize for a Constitutional Convention without any assistance from the FBI. Perhaps we can start at the state level like in—California? May be? Just may be.
